The internship is aimed at
facilitating opportunities for the professional development

of new entrants to the visual arts industry through internships based on experiential learning, practical engagement in real-time projects, and access to the knowledge, expertise. The programme is also aimed at supporting Visual Arts organisations across South Africa through the contribution of additional capacity of interns.

Matshelane Xhakaza

Bio: (b. 1993) is a Johannesburg-based multi-disciplinary artist..

Xhakaza has a BA in Fine Arts (2015) from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and is currently enrolled in a MA History of Art at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Misha Krynauw

Is a creative writer whose passion
for the art

and theatre world lead them to pursuing art writing and critique while expanding their formulaic understanding of literature by working as a copywriter and content contributor for various brands, artists and agencies as well as working as an essayist, poet and screenwriter. More recently, they have written their first play The Infinite Woman, which is set to premiere at Suidoosterfees in May of this year, following their selection to participate in Jakes Gerwel Foundation’s Jong Sterre Program of September last year, and the plays showcasing at 2020’s Teksmark in October. 

In being an art writer for the last three years, they have honed in on an eloquent, ekphrastic and empathetic style of writing and curation that has helped them build relationships and projects with local arthouses and practicing artists, while they pursue a larger career in the art world of Cape Town.
