Is a self-taught artist from Cape Town and 2019 Andrew Mellon Award winning artist.
2019 Andrew Mellon Award winning artist. Williams uses diverse media, which range from sculpture and weaving to zines and Wheatpaste street art. Scott’s work contemplates experiences of migration, land, hope and trade represented as intangible heritage and urbanist archives.
As a solo artist he has exhibited at Eclectica Contemporary, Gallery MOMO, Geumgang Nature Art Biennale and UCT Michaelis – amongst others. His festival work includes the Free State Art Festival and the ICA online fellowship.
His other contributions to the arts include youth facilitation with the District Six Museum, University of Stellenbosch and Rhodes University, Williams also researches and writes for various print & online platforms.
Williams was a founding member of Burning Museum Collective from 2012 – 2014.
